Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

"'You did not do as I asked. You have never treated Harry as a son. He has known nothing but neglect and often cruelty at your hands. The best that can be said is that he has at least escaped the appalling damage you have inflicted upon the unfortunate boy sitting between you.'" p. 55

"'Do you remember me telling you we are practicing nonverbal spells, Potter?'
'Yes,' said Harry stiffly.
'Yes, sir.'
'There's no need to call me 'sir', Professor.'
The words had escaped him before he knew what he was saying. Several people gasped, including Hermione. Behind Snape, however, Ron, Dean, and Seamus grinned appreciatively.
'Detention, Saturday night, my office,' said Snape. 'I do not take cheek from anyone, Potter... not even 'the Chosen One'.' p. 180

"'I am not from the asylum,' said Dumbledore patiently. 'I am a teacher and, if you will sit down calmly, I shall tell you about Hogwarts. Of course, if you would rather not come to the school, nobody will force you -'
'I'd like to see them try,' sneered Riddle." p. 270

"'Well, it is clear to me that he has done a very good job on you,' said Scrimgeour, his eyes cold and hard behind his wire-rimmed glasses. 'Dumbledore's man through and through, aren't you, Potter?'
'Yeah, I am,' said Harry. 'Glad we straightened that out.'" p. 348

"'He accused me of being 'Dumbledore's man through and through'.'
'How very rude of him.'
'I told him I was.'
Dumbledore opened his mouth to speak and then closed it again. Behind Harry, Fawkes the phoenix let out a low, soft, musical cry. To Harry's intense embarrassment, he suddenly realized that Dumbledore's bright blue eyes looked rather watery, and stared hastily at his own knees. When Dumbledore spoke, however, his voice was quite steady.
'I am very touched, Harry.'" p. 357-358

"'Where're you going?' Harry demanded.
'Yeah, I'm really going to tell you, because it's your business, Potter,' sneered Malfoy. 'You'd better hurry up, they'll be waiting for 'the Chosen Captain' - 'the Boy Who Scored' - whatever they call you these days.' p. 412

"'Er - well - ghosts are transparent -' he said.
'Oh, very good,' interrupted Snape, his lip curling. 'Yes, it is easy to see that nearly six years of magical education have not been wasted on you, Potter. 'Ghosts are transparent.''
Pansy Parkinson let out a high-pitched giggle. Several other people were smirking. Harry took a deep breath and continued calmly, though his insides were boiling, 'Yeah, ghosts are transparent, but Inferi are dead bodies, aren't they? So they'd be solid -'
'A five-year-old could have told us as much,' sneered Snape. 'The Inferius is a corpse that has been reanimated by a Dark wizard's spells. It is not alive, it is merely used like a puppet to do the wizard's bidding. A ghost, as I trust that you are all aware by now, is the imprint of a departed soul left upon the earth... and of course, as Potter so wisely tells us, transparent.'
'Well, what Harry said is the most useful if we're trying to tell them apart!' said Ron. 'When we come face-to-face with one down a dark alley, we're going to be having a shufti to see if it's solid, arent't we, we're not going to be asking, 'Excuse me, are you the imprint of a departed soul?''
There was a ripple of laughter, instantly quelled by the look Snape gave the class.
'Another ten points from Gryffindor,' said Snape. 'I would expect nothing more sophisticated from you, Ronald Weasley, the boy so solid he cannot Apparate half an inch across a room.'" p. 460

"Harry looked around, there was Ginny running toward him; she had a hard, blazing look in her face as she threw her arms around him. And without thinking, without planning it, without worrying about the fact that fifty people were watching, Harry kissed her." p. 533

"'You have no idea of the remorse Professor Snape felt when he realized how Lord Voldemort had interpreted the prophecy, Harry. I believe it to be the greatest regret of his life and the reason that he returned -'" p. 549

"'We're nearly there... I can Apparate us both back... Don't worry...'
'I am not worried, Harry,' said Dumbledore, his voice a little stronger despite the freezing water. 'I am with you.'" p. 578

"But somebody else had spoken Snape's name, quite softly.
'Severus...'
The sound frightened Harry beyond anything he had experienced all evening. For the first time, Dumbledore was pleading.
Snape said nothing, but walked forward and pushed Malfoy roughly out of the way. The three Death Eaters fell back without a word. Even the werewolf seemed cowed.
Snape gazed for a moment at Dumbledore, and there was revulsion and hatred etched in the harsh lines of his face.
'Severus... please...'
Snape raised his wand and pointed it directly at Dumbledore.
'Avada Kedavra!'" p. 595-596

"'Such loyalty is admirable, of course,' said Scrimgeour, who seemed to be restraining his irritation with difficulty, 'but Dumbledore is gone, Harry. He's gone.'
'He will only be gone from the school when none here are loyal to him,' said Harry, smiling in spite of himself." p. 649

"I see you are -'
'Dumbledore's man through and through,' said Harry. 'That's right.'" p. 649
